Traditional wallpaper printing, via Galvano Cylinders, Flexographic printing, Gravure or rotary screen, can still out-perform digital printing in some areas, including print speed and cost, for high volumes.
However, there are many reasons that digital wallpaper printing is becoming increasingly popular, especially among artists and designers, and one of these reasons, is unrestricted creativity.
The height of the design repeat is greatly limited with traditional print methods, due to the circumference of the screens/cylinders being 640mm.
With digital wallpaper printing – there are no limits!
Want to go with an image a metre tall, two metres tall, three metres tall? No problem.
With digital wallpaper printing, you can still produce a “feature” wall – but you can also produce a “statement” wall!
Even if you’re not thinking this huge in terms of the repeat size, the lack of this 64cm height restriction is a great relief for many artists and designers, who like to think out of the box, and who can now also “design out of the cylinder”.
No Minimum Orders
This lack of height restriction is just one of the many reasons that creative people are getting so excited about digital wallpaper printing.
Another benefit of printing digitally vs printing traditionally, is the very small minimum print runs that digital printers such as ourselves can offer.
With traditional printing, while some printing firms may not have a large minimum print run as such – the cost per colour of the screen or cylinder production leads to setup costs that would make the cost per metre very expensive.
For example, if your setup costs were going to be £420 plus VAT, and you only needed 5 metres printing initially, that’s very expensive wallpaper before you have even worked out the printing costs.
With Digital Wallpaper Company – you don’t pay ANY setup costs. If you’re sending a print-ready file, all you pay for is the printing, and we don’t have prohibitive minimum order volumes.
